Courageous Parenting

Our Relief Society had a Wizard of Oz theme night.
Lions & tigers & bears, oh my! Circus animal cookies. Other refreshments that I failed to photograph were poppy seed muffins in a picnic basket and fruit and veggie rainbow trays.
I think the yellow brick road needed more bricks...
Melted wicked witch. I totally forgot my caution tape to put around it and my black table cloth.
Food table decor (without the food). The witches bike and hot air balloons. I also saw the table leg idea on Pinterest; witch shoes and socks, so funny.
We had 3 classes. Each of the classes were introduced with quotes from the movie, Wizard of Oz.
1. "You are more capable then you know" Glinda the good witch
If I only had courage (like the lion) was courageous parenting spiritual thought based on the quote on the flyer.
2. Was "Everything you were looking for was right there with you all along." Wizard of Oz.
That was the "if I only had a heart" class. I just made a still picture video. It was fun things people in the ward had done, with their families, where we live. So we don't need to look anywhere else. We have great things to do at home and the best people to do them with, our families. We also made a huge list of all the ideas for people to bring home.
3. "You have no power here, be gone (before somebody drops a house on you too)" this quote represented the power we can have over Satan as we protect our kids and teach them to use media with safety and precaution.
This was the long class, if I only had a brain. We had 4 different teachers.
*a powerpoint on how to know what kids are doing on their phone and apps/features to keep them safe.
*powerpoint on computer filter importance & options, safety on social media, and game safety.
*How to prepare children for when they see inappropriate things on the computer. We used an article from the Friend magazine on lds.org
*screen time- how much time in front of electronics is ok.
Turned out great and I learned new options for filters and protection apps.
My lame thank you card for my teachers. The tin mans heart is chocolate. Wish we had large budgets!
My daughter babysat for the night and I prepared these cute spiders for her to make with the kids. I saw them on Pinterest. They are handprints.
