Decorating Sugar Cookies- Developing Talents

I am an avid fan of awesome flyers and always put time into making mine. Anything to spruce it up and get people thinking "the activity will be awesome because this is an awesome flyer"!
This activity is teaching the girls to use flood icing to make adorable sugar cookies.  The girls loved this activity so so much! So this is the best sugar cookie recipe ever and I will never replace it.
Taste of Home Recipe
1 cup softened butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 1/4-1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
refrigerate dough for an hour. Roll to 3/16 thickness on a lightly floured and white sugar surface. (I always mix some white sugar on my floured surface so the cookie still taste lightly sweet and not floury). Bake at 350 5-7 minutes or till set. Cool on the sheet 2 minutes before removing.
These puppies on the pan above are totally cooked. Sugar cookies do not need to be brown to be done cooking. Just check the middle of the cookie and make sure it looks cooked.

For flood icing Royal Icing is used because it will harden. I picked some easy cookies for the girls. They did 3: a dog, bunny and dinosaur. The dogs black spots bled a little because we did not have the time to let the white harden completely during the activity.

Here are my girls decorating their cookies. I had a demo cookie for me. I had the girls watch me do one step on my cookie and then they did the one step I demonstrated and then we did the next step together. I had 11 girls attend and it worked out just great.

These girls are so talented making cookies and they didn't even know it! These girls are holding the cookies they decorated themselves!

First Vision FHE- Learning & Living the Gospel

For this Activity we had a Family Home Evening.
The girls are suppose to teach the first vision to pass of one of the requirements. I gave them the first vision lesson so they could see how the lesson went. Then they all cut out their own copies of the FHE outline to take home and present to their own families. Then we played a game (bowling) and made snow cones.

Article of Faith motivating reminder

I have my girls mostly work on their Articles of Faith on their own. We sing one every activity for the opening song and occasionally have an activity focused on them.
This is just a flyer to remind girls to keep memorizing at home.

I put a dum dum sucker through the paper to look like a balloon for a little treat.

Activity Day Jeopardy: Water Balloon Style

This is my master copy for our Activity Day: Water Balloon Jeopardy.
I am making a big board with all the questions for the actual day. Instead of playing for points when you answer a question you play for water balloons. The easy questions you get 2 water balloons for answering then increase in number as you want. I am doing 2,4,5,6,8,10 water balloons per category.
This is just the layout and my copy. The other paper are the answers.
Here is how it is going down-
Divide into 2 teams. Have a team pick a category ("Match me" for 8 water balloons) Have one person from each team come forward. The girls that knows the answer first hits a buzzer. She gets to answer and if she's correct she gets ( 8 )water balloons. They continue to play trying to have their team earn the most water balloons. For more fun add "Daily Double". I had 5 Daily Doubles in my game. The team got to bet as many water balloons as they already had or less. If they had 20 water balloons and bet 10 water balloons, if they got the answer right they got an additional 10 water balloons if it was wrong they lost 10 of their balloons.

We had a water balloon fight with the won balloons. Each team used their own balloons and the leaders got to throw the un-won balloons.
We made ice cream in a bag afterwards.
